TUSDEC joins Linux community
LAHORE, Pakistan: Technology Upgradation and Skill Development
Company (TUSDEC) has adopted open source software for its entire
networking and communication to ensure the safe sharing and transfer of data.
According to a spokesman of the company , TUSDEC is
perhaps the first ever public sector institution in the country
which has embraced the Linux-based software to avoid the problems
like hacking and unauthorized sharing of information.
The Linux-based software is relatively safer than commercial or
closed software like Windows. Word Processing Software like Open
Office users on Linux systems can open and view Microsoft Office
documents. If these documents contain viruses, most probably they
would not affect the Linux computers. Open source softwares like
Linux are more secure by design, more stable, susceptible to fewer malware problems like virus, adware and spyware in addition to being true multiuser operating system.
Major projects engaged in the development and promotion of open
source software across the world include:- Freedesktop.org, Free
Software Foundation, GIMP, GNU, Drupal, Inkscape, Java, Jboss,
Joomla, KnowledgeTree, Debian, Linux, Macaulay 2, Miranda IM,
Mozilla Foundation, MySQL and Ubuntu.
